Ivana Williams

Born to a single mother with no ties to the world of wizardry, Ivana's childhood was spent in the shadows. Her mother, a professional dancer, performed all over the country for her work, and though she brought her young daughter with her (gifting her with the only thing she knew by teaching the girl the art of dance) there came a time where she no longer could care for Ivana and manage her career simultaneously — At least, that's how she saw it. The young girl saw it as abandonment, never letting go of the hurt of being her mothers second choice. At the age of eight, Ivana went to live with her Aunt and cousins, where she often found herself last to receive the attention and affections she required and had lacked from her mother. It was natural that she didnt hesitate upon receiving her Hogwarts Acceptance letter; Though she knew little of the strange new world she would be entering, it was a chance for her to be someone. She was no longer the bastard child of a dancer who couldnt find it in herself to raise her child — she was a witch with the ability to wield magic. It thrilled her, and her time spent at Hogwarts would quickly become her most treasured part of the year.

In many ways, her entry into Hogwarts was the start of a better chapter of her life. She felt acknowledged as an individual, and embracing the wizarding world was easy considering how it had managed to feed her needs for adventure, friendship, and acknowledgement. It even healed her relationship with her mother — Delighted that her daughter had found her place in the world, she was sure to provide for her financial needs during her schooling while saving her vacation time for when her beloved daughter was off for the holidays. It was during these breaks that the two were able to properly bond, Ivana sharing her wildly entertaining school stories, her mother sharing the stories of her travels and work in return. Though their bond was healed and strengthened, Ivana would still fear abandonment for years to come. Her own mother had so easily left her behind, so what would stop anyone else from doing the same?
